Today Disney and Lucasfilm announced that the upcoming Han Solo film will be scored by John Powell. Best known for his work on Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and the Bourne series, fans have likely already heard Powell’s work unknowingly. He even earned an Academy Award nomination in 2010 for his original score in How to Train Your Dragon. This will be his first time working with the Disney Company since 2008 when he composed for Disney Animation Studios’ Bolt.

Powell will be only the third composer to take on a live-action Star Wars film following John Williams and Michael Giacchino. Disney and Lucasfilm assure fans that Powell’s distinctive style will be heard throughout the film.

This announcement comes less than a month after Ron Howard is confirmed as director for the movie. We also got a glimpse at some behind the scenes shots of Donald Glover who will be portraying a young Lando Calrissian. The film is still without a title despite the fact that it is set to release in just under 10 months on May 25th, 2018.
